The performer's version of Shakespeare's "Romeo and Julliet"

The Performers version of Shakespeare‘s “Romeo and Julliet”

Every year the school takes us to a play performed by an Argentinean theater group called “The Performers”. This year’s play was a shorten version of Romeo and Julliet.
The play lasted one hour, the setting consisted on a wooden background painted as a balcony, it had two sides on the end which could be folded and simulated as a church and a room. The lightning was good it changed according to the mood the play wanted to give and the clothing was  based on the times of Queen Elizabeth.  The acting and the sharing of the parts was divides I 4 actors a long the play the only ones that neve changed role were Romeo and Julliet but the guy who played the priest also played Tybalt and Lord Capulet and the  woman  who had the Nurse’s role also made as Lady Capulet .
The acting was very exaggerated, and the adaptation of the play was awful they cutted out important parts of the original play and mixed it up with singing. The thing that made me dislike even more the play was the fact that it not represented Mercutio’s monologue which is one of the best lines y in the play.  I also think that we are too old for going to those kinds of plays I would’ve liked it better if they had made it more serious and directed for people over 15 years old leaving out the singing.
